So, we at the Second Birthday team have had a busy old few weeks, rounding up this Friday with a great meeting with Bournemouth Arts Team. Things are moving along and we're continuing our search for our Second Birthday venue in Bournemouth.

To celebrate this creative wave of action, Becca and I decided to spruce up our wellies for this years festival season - and we are pleased to introduce to you - Flying Wellies... brrrilliant.

art movement, "where ART-thou"

Posted by Seed Studio in Untagged

"community is a collective care"

i call all  art-is, to do what we are best at doing, inspireing people.

in my faith, i beleive that the best way to stop darkness, is to light a match.

its the same principles in this project, i have been talking with several people from all ages about why they choose to vandalise and cause destruction around there communnitys, it is a fusion of what they see (news/films/ games etc) but mainly because there is nothing for them to do.

well the time has come to light that match

where ART thou, needs you... I intend to use our skills (collecively) to transend there negative energy into possitive energy simply by being around, the local trouble zones and othering people a opertunity to be creative.

it's a common FACT that if a person, full of energy is traped in a cage they will fight for there existance, the same can be said  for there inner-self.

i dont use any jiggery-pockery, i.e N.L.P or any other processess of changing mind sets, just solely the power of inspiration.

i'm looking for artists, to start a renargade movement in and around our area, to activly spend time focusing our collective artistic abillitys not for profit but to change the way that people miss-use there time and energy.

"the time is always now because only in the moment we live"

lets make our skills and gifts, of love, in art count for our fellow communnitys.

welcome to the new generation

I had a great meeting with some wonderful people from artspace lifespace in Bristol... we sat on a barge... had a bit of lunch and they gave me some really amazing advice. They have been through this whole process before and have in the past taken over a huge cathedral and now a police station complex. Have a look at their website http://www.artspacelifespace.com/Home.html for more info on what they are up to and some great images..

We are going to see how our relationship develops and see how we can help each other along the way... very exciting!

We are thinking about doing a few one off events leading up to the opening of 2nd Birthday...

The idea:

approach a disused space/shop etc

put on an amazing one day/night event with you...

We want you to be involved - if you feel you have anything you could offer, this could be your pledge or something completly different, let us know here.

Comment on this blog with what you can offer and we shall see what we can do...

2nd Birthday.. it's hotting up

Get your shades out...

Where?
We have been meeting with, sending e-mails to phoning and generally badgering local developers to let us know what is happening with the empty spaces in Bournemouth. We have had really positive responses and have focussed our attention on a few venues in Bournemouth Town Centre. By May we will have a decision on rather exciting space (more on where next time) that we can inhabit for 2 years. We will let you know the outcome and will definitely be calling in some of your brilliant offers or wiring, painting, furniture and general good will to make it look, feel and be spectacular..

When?
WATCH THIS SPACE… depending on the developers it could be tomorrow… it could be next week… it could be next year.

How?
We are setting up as a charity and are putting in funding applications left right and centre.. we are meeting Bournemouth Borough Council and other supportive organisations to make this happen.. we are getting the word out there to get more people to pledge their support.

Pledges!
What we need:
furniture, plates, cutlery, glasses, catering equipment, decorative stuff, artwork, volunteers, workshop leader sessions, holistic therapies, small donations of money, books, any bizarre equipment you may have lying around.. sewing machines for example, computer equipment, pottery, musical instruments, material… any thing else that’s weird and wonderful.
