Boscombe Community Fayre Green Field proposal

Posted by dadjer in Untagged

So this is what I am proposing to do in September,. I'm hoping to do atleast 2 other festivals before then - Earthwise and Larmer Tree in August and July respectively.

The creative dynamo network (consisting of me, a.n.other, a wind turbine and solar panels is for artists who want to get involved in renewable energy and recycling etc.  If you want to book me or find out more please visit www.creativedynamo.net

 ta........

Over the years Boscombe Community fair has become more and more music
orientated and now it's time for a change. During this time we have
seen the IFSOM arts tent develop into an alternative venue to rival
anything the music scene has to offer. BUT with two music stages and
45 PLUS bands the festival is still awash with noise. Drowning out
some of the best alternative talent, campaigns and activities on offer.

In 2008 we would like to counter-act this by including Healing,
Theatre, Kids area, Arena, Site Office, Renewable energy and Recycling
in to a Green Field attraction. Last year was the first to use
renewable energy on-site and provide power to various community
groups. This year there will be more information about renewable
energy and climate change PLUS a new marquee / venue for the theatre.

The green field will be an important development for BCF given its'
social and environmental objectives. The green field will also widen
the festivals appeal to families, new audiences and the local media.
Thanks to the success of BCF there are now too many similar local
festivals but developing a green area, like this one, will once again
establish BCF as a 'first of it's kind'.

Please contact us if you would like to get involved with the green
field at this years festival. We want to work with individuals and
groups locally to showcase the best that Boscombe has to offer. The
green field requires workshops, healers, entertainers, stalls,
campaigns and absolutely anything else with a green feel to it. For
instance I have heard of a student project that incorporated wave
power into the legs of Boscombe Pier! Or perhaps you have your own
ideas about how to clean-up the environment and inspire local people.

Please forward this email to all who might be interested. There is a
meeting on March 28th where initial plans and ideas will be discussed.
Further information will be appearing on the Boscmail mailing list in
April.

TECHNOLOGY!

For those of you not scared of technology ;-)

You can now post videos to the blog, like this:

You need to a flashplayer enabled browser to view this YouTube video

all you need to do is write in the blog this:

[ youtube:insertyoutubeurlhere]

or

[ googlevideo:insertgoogleurlhere]

except where it says insertyoutubeurlhere replace that with a youtube url!

Something usually like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NOErZuzZpS8

Make sure it has no spaces in it as well!

Enjoy.

Scribbly stuff!

Posted by Alfonse in Untagged

Hmmmmmmm...My second birthday would defintely involved cake, for starters. Then I think some sort of scribblathon with crayons - totally digging my 24 pack of Crayola at the mo' - I forgot how much fun doodling and scrawling can be! Get involved! :)

But if cake is for starters, the main course is crayons, maybe dessert would be a round of games that I can win at like Snap and Thumb War. This may change if I suddenly become rubbish at Snap. Or you become really good at it.

2nd Birthday, what will you do?!

we took a trip to Bristol...

Rob

Went to the square and compass. Fod told us his life story. Spent the night in the van. Early start then up to Bristol..

We had a tip off. Inspiring venues in Bristol (thanks Campari Safari). Navigated town. Found 'Here' http://sparror.cubecinema.com/here/mainmenu.html.

Liked the homely, DIY feel through the window though. Some cool artwork on and definitely one to go back to.

Took up the other lead. Went to the Cube Cinema www.cubecinema.com .

We'll try again another time...

Keep the suggestions for inspiring venues coming though, one of them might even be open!

Roni Size Brown Paper Bag Remix [Tru Thoughts]

Posted by seb in thoughts

seb

James played this on Saturday, had to track it down...

http://www.tru-thoughts.co.uk/releases/me-and-you/TRU127

The first release from me&you, a collaboration between Robert Luis and Alex ‘TM Juke’ Cowan, is a double A-side 7”.

me&you’s first single includes a dub/reggae cover of the Roni Size/Reprazent d’n’b classic ‘Brown Paper Bag’ alongisde original dance-floor filler-killer ‘The Hoop Loop’. This release is going down a treat with the both the d’n’b crowd (who apparently like to drop Brown Paper Bag alongside the original) and TT’s mellower fans alike.

Keep an eye open for the full debut album ‘Floating Heavy’ which represents something of a musical journey through Rob and Alex’s DJing experiences.

I want this tune!
