 2nd Birthday is a charitable not for profit production company which is committed to artistically recycling disused shops and empty buildings.
2nd Birthday is developed through the generous pledges of our local community and is committed to producing their ‘2nd Birthdays’ –ambitious artistic events which will take place in recycled spaces.
2nd Birthday is managed by three local producers with extensive experience in performance, live art, visual art, digital media and arts education.
To make a pledge is easy. All you need to do is register and fill out what you would like to pledge. Simple!
We're only asking for as much as you can give... pledges can be anything from your time & expertise to an old chair, or if you're feeling flush; some money.
Like all good birthdays the best bit is spending time with your friends... not the presents... so if you can pledge some time to help us get started we'll be sure to write you a thank-you letter.

2nd Birthday supports and programmes high quality and daring arts experiences and interventions that reflect the world around us, engaging broad and diverse communities in compelling and proactive ways.
Money
2nd Birthday is not for profit but for community gain, we bank ethically and are publicly funded. All commissions/ hire fees will be directed back into the running of 2nd Birthday for public benefit, in line with our charitable objects.
Risk
2nd Birthday challenges people’s thinking through the creation of new arts work. We actively encourage people to question and explore the arts through the original and contemporary work we will programme / commission.
People
2nd Birthday is artist and community led, with local, national and international partners and audiences. 2nd Birthday aims to be a welcoming environment and family friendly

- Through using non conventional spaces 2nd Birthday accesses and develops new audiences for high quality art.

- Studios / creative workspaces are for public benefit and for the development of the art form and creative movement.
Environment
Wherever possible we will be environmentally friendly and proactive, by recycling, sourcing local produce and resources.
Art Forms
2nd Birthday aims to support original, high quality contemporary artwork, and fosters cross-art form pollination and collaboration in the following specialisms:

- Combined Arts (including festivals; participatory arts; carnival and innovation through multidisciplinary arts)
How the Pledge System works…
1) You make a pledge via www.2ndbirthday.co.uk/create-an-account.html This could be anything you can donate to further the 2nd Birthday mission.
2) You decide whether you would like either:
- A 2nd Birthday event – that reflects the 2nd Birthday Arts Manifesto
- A visual recognition of your support in the venue
- To remain anonymous
3) We will call up your pledge when it is needed
4) You will then be invited to meet the 2nd Birthday team to plan your 2nd Birthday event (if you have decided to have one)
5) All 2nd Birthday Events will be listed on our 2nd Birthday calendar.
